Job Description


We have a very exciting opportunity for an experienced, entrepreneurial Aftermarket Director to join our team. You will lead the strategic aftermarket sales and service team for the NOAM region in our Harsco Rail division. This role is vital to our growth strategy for the Harsco Rail aftermarket business.

You will be responsible for strategy, cross-functional team leadership (internal and supplier), channel partner management, day-to-day management of sales and service personnel, and operation oversight pertaining to aftermarket. In addition, you will be fully responsible for – and accountable to – meeting or exceeding Harsco Rail’s revenue growth targets, maintaining or growing market share and expanding margin.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Regular communication (verbal and written) with our internal and external customers
  • Development of the aftermarket product line strategy and participate in strategy planning sessions based on market requirements and Harsco profit expectations
  • Manage regular reports for customers to meet KPI’s (bookings, shipments, open orders, cost variance, backlog, on-time delivery)
  • Ensure warranty, RMA’s and customer returns are being completed in a timely manner
  • Enforces and monitors guidelines for working with customers to ensure maximum customer satisfaction by handling customer complaints immediately and according to the Company’s guidelines
  • Coordinates a prompt, efficient, and timely flow of paperwork
  • Work closely with all functions in the organization to set, communicate, and execute on product plans. This includes individuals from Product Management, Shipping, Finance, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Human Resources, Sales, Management, and Engineering
  • Assist in developing a forecast of repair parts for customers
  • Travel to customer sites as required for presentations and customer relations regarding Harsco Rail’s Aftermarket
  • Recommend improvements in labor utilization, BOM’s, capacity requirements planning, shop floor material tracking, outside processing tracking, MRP accuracy and routings
  • Interview and hire staff alone with overseeing staff training
  • Set and manage departmental budget requirements
  • Manage, lead, motivate and coach Sales and Service Representatives to maximize their potential

Qualifications

  • Ten (10) years related experience and/or training.
  • Strong ERP (BAAN) system knowledge.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills required.
  • Ability to effectively coach others
  • Understanding and working knowledge of Lean principles
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office tools: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work and your departments’
  • Able to establish and maintaining interpersonal relationships and to develop and build teams
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical data
  • Ability to write in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Four (4) year degree in Business or Engineering
  • Minimum five (5) years of related experience in heavy equipment parts sales
  • Minimum three (3) years of related experience in a supervision role
  • Prior railroad industry experience a plus
  • Demonstrated capability to set and achieve aggressive targets with examples of creative ideas to grow the top and bottom line of a business
